'Dumb & Dumber' Producer Picks Up Comedy Script 'Virgin Territory' (Exclusive)

The production company behind Dumb & Dumber and Kingpin is heading into Virgin Territory. Motion Picture Corporation of American has picked up a comedy spec from scribe Tex Davis. Territory is a buddy road trip comedy about a father who teams up with his dorky kid neighbor to save the virginity of his daughter from the biggest scumbag on earth. Beau Bauman and Matt Stuecken are producing with MPCA's Brad Krevoy and Brad Jenkel. Davis will exec produce with JC Spink, Jake Weiner and Chris Bender. Davis, repped by Paradigm, Benderspink and attorney Alison Binder, wrote Just Friends, the New Line comedy that starred Ryan Reynolds, as well as Gardener of Eden. He is also developing two specs: My Science Project, a big, four-quadrant tentpole in the vein of Night at the Museum, and a family animation movie titled Rock Lobster. Bauman was a producer on Hail Mary, a pilot for CBS, and is working with Seth Gordon on a feature adaptation of Gordon's documentary King of Kong, set up at New Line. Struecken is a former exec at the Sommers Co. where he was associate producer on G.I. Joe and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. MPCA, which garnered 11 Emmy nominations with the drama Taking Chance, is refocusing on its comedic roots, with such hits as the Farrelly brothers' Dumb & Dumber and Kingpin and Chris Farley's Beverly Hills Ninja. The company also is developing, with Overbrook and Katalyst Films, What Would Kenny Do?, the Sony project to which Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher are attached.
