TV Ratings: 'Charlie's Angels' Declines Again, 'Grey's Anatomy' Posts Series Low

ABC"Charlie's Angels" As networks continue to decide which new shows stay or go, several rookies saw dips in the ratings on a competitive Thursday night, partially due to baseball playoffs on TBS. CBS' The Big Bang Theory (13.6 million total viewers, 4.4 rating in adults 18-49 demogrpahic) was the top program on the night in both viewers and the demo, but its performance didn't boost freshman sitcom How to Be a Gentleman (7.8 million, 2.5), down 7 percent in the demo from the previous week. Newcomer Person of Interest (11.5 million, 2.5) saw a dip, while veteran procedural The Mentalist (12.9 million, 2.7) rose 4 percent, winning its 10 p.m. time slot in all measures. ABC's Charlie's Angels (5.9 million, 1.2) made a case for the network to give it the quick hook, sinking another 20 percent in the demo. Mainstays Grey's Anatomy (8.5 million, 3.0) hit a series low down 17 percent and Private Practice (6.2 million, 2.2) plunged even more: 21 percent. Simon Cowell's reality series grew in each half hour in the ad-coveted demo, from a 3.1 at 8 p.m. to a 4.2 at 9:30 p.m. Fox easily won the night in the demo. The Detroit Tigers-NY Yankees game caused a 16 percent dip in the NY market and a 23 percent decrease in Detroit for The X Factor from last week. PHOTOS: 10 Shows Canceled Faster Than 'The Playboy Club' Over on NBC, Whitney (4.9 million, 2.3) retained 74 percent of The Office (5.7 million, 3.1) lead-in, which the network touts is the highest percentage for a 9:30 p.m. comedy this week. The Office topped its 9 p.m. time period among the younger 18-34 demo. Community (3.4 million, 1.5), meanwhile, sank 17 percent, and Parks & Recreation (4.1 million, 1.9) was down 10 percent. Prime Suspect (4.9 million, 1.5) held up to its previous week's numbers. Earlier this week, NBC announced that it would be placing Prime Suspect repeats -- in an effort to increase sampling -- in the slot previously held by the now-canceled The Playboy Club on Mondays.
